Abstract

This research discusses the metaphorical figure of speech found in American teen drama series. These data of research are limited to the sentences that contained metaphor. This research aims to determine the type and meaning of each metaphor found in American teen drama series Euphoria. In analyzing the data, the author uses the theory by Lakoff and Johnson (1980) to determine the types and their meaning. There are 8 episodes in this drama. The author found 43 sentences that contained metaphor in this drama. There are 4 sentences categorized as orientational metaphor, 29 sentences as ontological metaphor, and 10 sentences as structural metaphor. From the result, There are 3 types of metaphor in this drama series and the most common type of metaphor found in this drama series is ontological metaphor.
