Abstract

Local Mikcroorganisms (MOL) made from organic waste with the addition of banana flowers, spinach and legumes were gradually fermented for four weeks. This research was conducted from February to June 2019 in the microbiology and greenhouse laboratory of the Biology Department of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Andalas University. The purpose of this study are to find out the comparison of groups and the total number of microorganisms found in MOL with EM4 and To see the quality of compost produced in the composting process using MOL and EM4. The results of this study are In isolation MOL found microbial groups such as bacteria, fungi and yeast.Total colonies of bacteria, fungi and yeast are found more in MOL (M4) with the number of bacteria 1.2×105 cfu/ml, fungi 9.7x104 cfu/ml and yeast 1.9×105 cfu/ml and compost products produced from EM4 and MOL4 have several differences, for the pH value of compost using M4 and EM4 both have a pH of 6, for the M4 compost temperature is 32℃ while the EM4 compost temperature is 30℃. The color of M4 compost is brown while the EM4 compost is blackish in color, for the texture of both compost is still rough and there are still ingredients that have not been decomposed, and for odor parameters, both compost have no foul odor.
