Abstract

Perineal rupture is the most common complication in all deliveries. Perineal rupture can cause various complications such as bleeding, hematoma, fistula, and infection which can harm the mother and increase the maternal mortality rate (MMR). Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) is a plasma composed of blood derived from the patient's blood that has been shown to positively affect wound healing and pain reduction in high-risk patients undergoing rupture surgery. The purpose of this study was to determine the comparison of the success rate of perineal rupture wound healing using PRP and without using PRP in normal delivery mothers at the puskesmas in Padang City. This study used an experimental study design with a post-test only design in two groups, namely the intervention group using PRP and the control group. The PRP intervention group received PRP injections in the perineal wound on day 1 after delivery, while the control group was the group that was not given PRP. On day 7, perineal wound healing was observed using the REEDA scale in both groups. This study used primary data from normal delivery mothers at Puskesmas Seberang Padang, Padang City, which was conducted from April to August 2024 with 56 respondents. The analysis test used was the chi-square test. The results of the study on the relationship between the success rate of perineal rupture wound healing with the use of PRP in perineal rupture wounds of normal delivery mothers were found to be p=0.002. From this study it can be concluded that there is a significant relationship between the success rate of perineal rupture wound healing and the use of PRP in perineal rupture wounds of normal delivery mothers at the puskesmas in Padang City.
