Abstract
Indonesia is one of the Southeast Asian countries that generates the most marine debris, even ranking 2nd globally in terms of the amount of marine waste produced. Marine debris has consistently been a regional issue in Southeast Asia. In response to this, ASEAN created the ASEAN Framework of Action on Marine Debris (AFAMD), which serves as a regional framework to harmonize efforts in addressing the marine debris problem. Indonesia has made efforts to reduce plastic waste by creating a National Plan of Action on Marine Debris, establishing a national coordination team for marine debris management, creating regulations and other initiatives. This research aims to analyze Indonesia’s efforts in implementing AFAMD by using AFAMD indicators. The research method employed is qualitative, with an explanatory research type. Based on the concepts used, this study finds that Indonesia has implemented AFAMD within its domestic policies by meeting the indicators from the four pillars set by AFAMD.
