Abstract

Economic growth in Indonesia is a key driver of overall development, including significant progress in the infrastructure sector. The development budget increased by 7.8% from the 2022 budget of Rs.363.8 trillion. This has led to increased use of cement as a raw material. Indonesia has become one of the largest cement consumers and producers in ASEAN. In general, the energy intensity to produce cement is about 3.4 GJ/ton. The energy used to satisfy its needs comes from some kinds such as coal that reaches 91.14%. PT Semen Padang is one of the largest cement industries in Indonesia with a capacity of 10.4 million Tons of cement per year. Increasing production rates will have a potential pollution that can disrupt communities around industrial areas. Indonesia's focus on sustainability is on the Corporate Performance Assessment Program (PROPER). Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) is a mechanism to analyze and calculate the total environmental impact of a product at each stage of its life cycle. Life cycle assessment is beneficial to both industry and the environment, such as obtaining maximum and efficient output, to help find continuous improvements so as to preserve the environment for the future. Impact measurement using the LCA approach with Simapro Software using the IMPACT 2002+ method in the gate to gate scope. Based on the normalization values that have been obtained, it is determined that the impact categories that are highly influential in the process of cement production are Respiratory Inorganics, Global Warming, and Non renewabale energy. The resulting values are 0113 Kg PM 2.5 eq, 648 Kg CO2 eq, and 3280 MJ Primary , each of which is influenced by the three processes. The biggest contributors are the use of electricity and coal. Recommendation given by using Kaliandra as an alternative fuel with a heating value of 4700 kcal. Decrease in the impact category of global warming at normalization by 8% and on non-renewable energy by 25% with 25% of TSR. In fact the land available just can supply 7% of TSR so PT Semen Padang needs to encourage to take the taget.
