Abstract
Nindi, 1210822015. Anthropology Department in Social and Political Science Faculty of Andalas University, Padang 2019. Tittle: Endless Conflict : Boundary Conflict between Saniang Baka Community and Muaro Pingai Conflict contributes to disunity in the unity of Indonesian society, efforts must be made to resolve it intensively. From these efforts, many have succeeded in reconciling those who are in conflict, but there are also other cases, even though they have been resolved but have not reached an agreement that can end the conflict, such as a horizontal conflict between Saniang Baka and Muaro Pingai. these two communities have been in conflict for decades and until now there has been no meaningful solution in resolving the issue of land ownership in their territorial borders. Communities claim each other's land ownership issues based on evidence they believe is true. There have been many mediation efforts carried out by the government and traditional institutions, such as community leaders, but they have not yet reached a joint agreement. Based on that, the purpose of the research that the writer wants to achieve here is to find out what stages have been passed in this conflict, then what form of resolution has been taken so that the writer can analyze it through an approach. As well as knowing the causes of why the conflict did not meet the end of the resolution even though efforts have been made by various parties. To answer these questions the authors collected data sourced from in-depth interviews and field observations. Ideally when using qualitative research methods, it will allow a researcher to understand the phenomenon of what is experienced by the research subject. The results of this study indicate that in this conflict there are several stages that are passed. Where each stage shows a condition of conflict itself. In the early stages of the conflict, there was opposition between individuals which could finally be resolved by the ninik mamak. Then the next stages of the conflict escalate so that it is difficult to resolve even though it has involved the government. The government uses mediation as a settlement step. But in the process there are obstacles such as the crisis of public confidence in the government because the government is considered not serious in resolving conflicts. In addition, the attitude of the people who did not accept the agreement also became another inhibiting factor. Keywords: Conflict, Conflict Resolution Efforts, Conflict Resolution
