Abstract
This thesis analyzes a literary Darwinian perspective on the resilience of human relationships in the novel All Your Perfects by Colleen Hoover in facing the problem of infertility. This thesis applies the principles of literary Darwinism theory by Joseph Carroll and uses qualitative methods to reveal basic human motives in finding the right partner through mating preference or criteria and the role of imagination which can influence the resilience of a relationship. Imagination is very fundamental in life because all human actions occur due to the imagination that is constructed in the mind. Therefore, this thesis aims to analyze two important aspects of life related to survival, which are mate selection in choosing and retaining a partner in people who cannot produce offspring and also the use of imagination for resilience in marriage through a system. The results of this thesis demonstrate that Colleen Hoover represents the two main characters, Quinn and Graham, as substantiation of choosing the right partner who can help humans survive in difficult conditions and the role of imagination in finding the true meaning of life. These two aspects can help the main characters enhance the quality of their survival amidst the struggle with infertility.
