Abstract
This research discusses the morphological structure of new English words added to the online Oxford dictionary in the December 2021 update. This research also aims to classify and explain the morphological processes involved such as affixation, compounding, blending, and truncation. This research uses O'Grady's approach to analyze word formation, in analyzing the data the researcher uses qualitative methods and observation methods. In the end, the researcher found that some of the processes found in new English words in the online Oxford dictionary are Derivation (apophany, boomeranger, forensicate, etc), Compounding (chip fire, chiptune, Gen Z, etc) Conversion (ID, shitpost, bullwhip, etc), Borrowing (abhidhamma, anatta, sesshin, etc), Blending (goop). Researchers also found that the most used process in processing new words is the merging process. Keywords: New Words, Word Formation, Oxford English Dictionary.
