Abstract

This study discusses the efforts made by UNAIDS in helping Indonesia in dealing with HIV/AIDS problems. In Indonesia, the number of new people who suffers HIV has increased every year. This increasing number on HIV is threat to Indonesia because most of the people with HIV/AIDS are people in the age of productivity. The purpose of this research is to explain the efforts made by UNAIDS in helping Indonesia in overcoming the problem of HIV/AIDS in Indonesia to achieve their goal in stopping the epidemic of HIV/AIDS globally by 2030. This study uses the concept of international organization functions proposed by Margaret P. Karns and Karen A. Mingst which consists of 6 functions, namely: Informational, Forum, Normative, Rule Creation, Rule Supervision and Operational. The results of the study are that UNAIDS runs four of the functions of international organizations in helping Indonesia. Efforts made by UNAIDS such as collecting data related to HIV/AIDS, making official visits, providing support, holding meetings,and involved in the preparation of Indonesia's HIV/AIDS prevention strategy.
