Abstract

This study aims to analyze the Philippines national interests to China during the presidency of President Rodrigo Duterte. Rodrigo Duterte made changes to the Philippines foreign policy. Although the Philippines was so close to the United States and involved in a conflict with China over the problems of the South China Sea, the Philippines has become a country that has relations with China in various fields, besides the Philippines has begun to distance the United States. This study will be analyzed using the concept of National Interest by G. R. Berridge, seeks to analyzed the interests of the Philippines towards China. The research method used is a qualitative research method with data collection techniques in the form of literature studies and the result of this study explained that the interests in aspects of ideology are not important but the economic and political aspects are the most dominant interest of the Philippines towards China in the regime of President Rodrigo Duterte.
