Thesis Title: Socio-Cultural Constraints of Business Development for Rumah Batik Minang Panyakalan Kecamatan Kubung Kabupaten Solok. Supervisor I, Dr. Indraddin, M.Si. Supervisor II, Drs. Ardi Abbas, MT. Improving the economy of the community is very important to increase the welfare of the community, one of the ways to empower the UMKM (Micro Small and Medium Enterprises ) carried out by the community. Nagari Panyakalan community owns the Rumah Batik Minang business which used to have better business progress but at this time the development of Rumah Batik Minang business continues to decline. Therefore the purpose of this study describes Socio-Cultural Constraints of Rumah Batik Minang Panyakalan Kecamatan Kubung Kabupaten Solok In Developing His Business. The study was conducted with a qualitative approach and in data collection used in-depth interview techniques (not structured). The theory used is the symbolic interactionism theory of Herbert Blumer, he states that basically all humans have the ability to think, then the ability to think is used to integrate which studies meaning and symbol, so that ability creates actions and interactions typical of humans. The results of the research on all the obstacles faced by Rumah Batik Minang business show that cultural and social constraints have an effect on the efforts to develop batik. Not only the economic aspects that influence this development but also the socio-cultural aspects are no less important than the economic aspects. This socio-cultural constraint can be seen in the batik culture, not the Minang people's cultural heritage, lacking basic batik skills, difficulty being batik craftsmen, people's knowledge of batik, dependence on outside workers, lack of marketing efforts, consumers difficult to buy expensive batik materials, status changes marriage, the dual role of female batik artisans, unable to take advantage of social capital, and finally the lack of government assistance and support.
