Abstract

Organophosphates are the type of pesticide most often used in agriculture. Organophosphates enter the body through respiratory, skin, and digestive exposure. Exposure to organophosphates can cause acute or chronic poisoning of organs, including the pancreas. Organophosphates will interfere with carbohydrate metabolism involving the formation and breakdown of glucose. This study aims to determine the effect of organophosphate exposure on fasting blood glucose levels in Mus musculus mice. This study was a true experimental study with a post test only control group design that used 18 samples of mice. The samples were divided into three groups, the control group was fed with standard animal feed, the P1 group was exposed by 30 mg / L aquades of organophosphate and the P2 group was exposed by 45 mg / L aquades of organophosphate. The data was analyzed using The One-Way Anova parameteric test. The study resulted in a mean fasting blood glucose levels in the control group of 145,60±17,18 mg/dL, P1 of 134,20±19,22 mg/dL and P2 139,60±13,39 mg/dL. In the One-Way Anova test, a value of p=0.576 (p>0.05). The conclusion of this study is that organophosphate exposure has no effect on fasting blood glucose levels of mice.
