Abstract

COVID-19 is a contagious infectious disease caused by the novel Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2). The outbreak of COVID-19 led WHO to declare pandemic status in 2020. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Padang had the highest reported COVID-19 cases in Sumatera Barat. This study aims to identify whether there is a statistically significant relationship between age and nutritional status with COVID-19 severity degree. This study was an analytical study with a cross-sectional approach. The data used secondary data from the medical records. The sample in this study were patients infected with COVID-19 treated at Hospital of Universitas Andalas in 2021−2022. The data was analyzed using the chi-square test. The statistical significance was determined if the p-value <0,05. This research showed that COVID-19 patients were treated at Hospital of Universitas Andalas in 2021−2022, mostly aged 56−65 years old. The majority of patients were female. Patients with normal nutritional status (BMI) are the most patients found. The largest COVID-19 severity group was moderate. This study concludes a significant relationship between age and nutritional status with COVID-19 severity degree (p<0,001).
