Abstract

This research aimed to improve the electrical properties and observe the effect of humidity on ethanol gas sensors made from polyvinyl alcohol and polypyrrole materials. Mix the materials in a magnetic stirrer, then put them in a petridish for ultrasonication. We carried out ultrasonication for variations of 0, 2, 4 minutes, and 8 minutes. The researchers resisted the nanocomposite material obtained with RH variations of ±50%, ±75%, and ±95%. After that, the electrical properties are measured (conductivity, current density, and specific capacitance). Conductivity measurements use the four-point probe method. Measurement of current density and capacitance using cyclic voltammetry. The results of measurements using this ultrasonication variation from WUB to UB2 showed a decrease in conductivity of 15.87%, an increase in current density of 130.34%, specific capacitance of 85.27%; from UB2 to UB4 get an increase in conductivity of 37.20%, a decrease in current density of 94.96%, a specific capacitance of 95.95%; decrease from UB4 to UB8 conductivity 17.69%, current density 81.32%, specific capacitance 78.87%. Measurement results with humidity variations increased from RH50% to RH75%, conductivity 82.54%, current density 23.54%, specific capacitance 35.03%; from RH75% to RH95% increases conductivity 354.54%, current density 952.56%, specific capacitance 862.22%. We carried out characteristic testing using FTIR, XRD, and SEM
