Abstract

Inventory control is a series of company policies in controlling inventory starting from determining inventory levels, when to place orders, and the size of orders placed based on the needs of the company. Hospitals as health services are required as well as possible to provide the best service for patients, especially in the availability of medicines. Padang Panjang Hospital has a Pharmacy Installation that manages drug availability. Currently, the installation is experiencing problems related to drug inventory control policies where drug inventory planning is carried out based on drug consumption in the previous month which comes from requests from all depots. The inventory planning policy in practice often leads to overstock of certain types of drugs because the pattern of drug consumption (number of depot requests) is very different (unstable) from month to month. This study proposes a better drug inventory control policy at the Pharmaceutical Installation of Padang Panjang Regional Hospital using a periodic review system. To ensure a decrease in the level of excess inventory (the actual problem), and at the same time, to reduce the amount of inventory shortage as a result of the implementation of the proposed periodic review system, the decision to determine the pattern of ordering drugs to distributors (pharmaceutical drug traders) and the optimal amount of safety stock is determined using the Heuristic Differential Evolution method. Drug inventory control focused on classification A and routine category drugs, resulting in 35 types of drugs. This amount is obtained from a wedge between 89 A-classification drugs and 69 routine category drugs. Calculation of the total cost of the proposed inventory using the Heuristic Differential Evolution method can save costs of Rp1,569,340,708 or 41.95% of the actual total inventory cost in 2022. Sensitivity analysis is performed on changes in drug demand on drug ordering patterns and storage costs. Significant changes are obtained from increasing and decreasing drug demand by 10%. With an increase and decrease of 10%, an increase in storage costs of Rp1,055,880 or 150.11% of the proposed cost and Rp1,044,225 or 148.45% of the proposed cost is obtained. Keywords: Drug Inventory Control, Hospital, Periodic Review, Differential Evolution.
