Abstract

This research focuses on analyzing and identifying translation technique used to translate quantifiers in the translation of Animal Farm by George Orwell from English to Indonesia. In this research, the writer uses the translation technique of Molina and Albir (2002). Based on this study, 60 quantifiers from George Orwell''s English novel Animal Farm and its Indonesian translation, Republik Kerajaan, were collected as data. There are two important points in this study. The first one is the type of quantifier and its usage: countable noun, uncountable noun, and both countable noun and uncountable noun, where for each category the frequency is 20. The second one is the translation technique applied to translate quantifiers. Seven translation techniques were applied: adaptation 4 times, addition 9 times, linguistic amplification 5 times, literal 24 times, modulation 6 times, reduction 9 times, and transposition 3 times.
