Abstract

The menstrual cycle is an indicator of a woman's health. Any disturbance in the menstrual cycle can be a sign of health problems in a woman. This observational analytic study with a cross-sectional study design included 56 respondents in the Nanggalo Health Center, Padang City, West Sumatra, working area. A simple random sampling technique was used to choose the respondents involved in this study. The current study used a PSS-10 questionnaire to exclude stress levels. A questionnaire related to the acceptor menstrual cycle was also developed to identify menstrual cycle disorders. Data was analyzed using the Chi-square test. The results showed that the majority of respondents had used DMPA injection for more than 24 months (62.5%) with menstrual cycle disorders in the form of amenorrhea in 39 respondents (69.6%), oligomenorrhea in 5 respondents (8.9%), and polymenorrhea in 4 respondents (7.1%). The Chi-square statistical test showed no significant relationship between the length of DMPA use and menstrual cycle disorders of acceptors in the Nanggalo Health Center working area with p-value = 0.876 (p>0.05). Fakultas Kedokteran Universitas Andalas viii It can be concluded that, statistically, there is no significant relationship between the length of DMPA use and menstrual cycle disorders off acceptors in the Nanggalo Health Center working area.
