Abstract

Ananas comosus L. Merr was known as a plant that has many benefits like anticancer, antibacteria, and antifungal. Based on previous research, it has been reported that pineapple contains bromelin enzyme, calcium, phosphorus, vitamins, carbohydrates, and dextrose. Extraction of pineapple peel has been carried out by maceration method using methanol as solvent. Then, methanol extract is fractionated using hexane and ethyl acetate. The results of the phytochemical test show that the pineapple peel contain secondary metabolite compounds such as phenolic, coumarin, and steroid. Determination of total phenolic content, antioxidant and cytotoxic activities were performed on methanol extract, hexane fraction, ethyl acetate fraction and residual fraction. Determination of total phenolic content by Folin-Ciocalteau method, antioxidant activity by DPPH method and cytotoxic activity by Brine Shrimp Lethality Test (BSLT) method. The result shows that the great total phenolic content shown by ethyl acetate fraction with total phenolic content of 0,3403 mg GAE/g fraction. The results of antioxidant activity test for methanol extract showed very strong antioxidant activity with IC50 value is 11,29 mg/L. The results of cytotoxic test showed that ethyl acetate fraction classified as very toxic with LC50 value is 6,1404 mg/L. Keywords : Ananas comosus L. Merr, Phenolic Total, Antioxidant, Cytotoxic.
