Abstract
Community acquired pneumonia (CAP) is a major cause of morbidity and mortality from infectious diseases worldwide. A new prognostic approach relies on evaluation of biomarkers as an expression of the host’s inflammatory response against microorganism. Doctors identify CAP patients who are likely to have poor outcomes by using severity scores such as the pneumonia severity index (PSI). Observational research with cross sectional method was performed on 30 cases of CAP in installation of Internal Medicine of Dr. M. Djamil Padang in Juny to September 2018. CAP patients examinated serum TNF-α by using ELISA method, Neutrophil Lymphocyte Ratio, and pneumonia severity index scores. This study obtained mean of serum TNF-α 71,69 pg/mL, mean of Neutrophil Lymphocyte Ratio 9,48, and mean of PSI scores 134. There was a positive correlation with with a moderate correlation between serum TNF- α and PSI scores, and a positive correlation with with a moderate correlation between Neutrophil Lymphocyte Ratio and PSI scores in CAP patients Keywords: CAP, serum TNF-α, Neutrophil Lymphocyte Ratio, PSI
