Abstract

The utilization of electronic devices in domestic life is very high. The large use of electrical energy has negative impacts such as large electricity costs using wasteful and inefficient household fuel. One example is microwave that heats food needs of electricity power of 1000 - 1450 watts to work optimally. One household tool that has the same function as a microwave to heat food is a rice cooker. The rice cooker has two functions, cooking and warming. The rice cooker only needs 300 - 400 watts of electricity. This system is used to control the temperature when heating food that suits your needs. Temperature is detected using a DS18B20 temperature sensor that has the characteristics of being resistant to water. To be easy to use on the rice cooker, an application is made on the smartphone. The research results obtained transient response with a value td = 5 minutes, tr = 9 minutes, tp = 11 minutes, ts = 14 minutes and overshoot = 78.23oC. For the steady-state response, %Steady-state Error = 4.16%. Regarding the length of time to reach the set point by using PID control each food is different, for normal food it takes ± 10 minutes, cold food ± 15 minutes and for frozen ± 30 minutes.
