Abstract
In this research, a rectangular patch microstrip antenna which is able to work on band 40 (2300 MHz – 2400 MHz) of 4G LTE (Long Term Evol ution) frequency is designed. Inherently, a microstrip antenna has a narrow bandwidth. Therefore double-layer substrate is applied to enhance its bandwidth. The additional substrate has the same type and size as the substrate on single element antenna which is FR4. It has a dielectric constant 4.4 and thickness of 1.6 mm. The patch is on the top layer without ground plane. The ground plane is on the base of the second layer without any patch. The first layer is coupled with the second layer. Coaxial feed was used for feeding technique. The designed of antenna achieves an additional bandwidth about 40.5 MHz (4,5%). Based on the result of measurement, it shows that fabricated antenna worked on the range of 2232.5MHz – 2412.5 MHz with return loss ≤ -10 dB.
