Abstract

Dengue hemorrhagic fever (DHF) is a disease that is transmitted through the bite of Aedes mosquitoes that been infected by dengue virus. Up until now, there is no any method that been proven to be able to control DHF by it cause that makes the only way to control DHF is still depending on the vector eradication. The use of natural ingredients (botanical insecticides) is needed to eradicate the vector of DHF. The aim of this research is to know the effectiveness of soursop seed extract as alternative larvicide to Aedes spp. with Abate® as a positive control and water as a negative control. The type of this research is experimental with factorial design. The sample that are used were larvae of Aedes spp. mosquitoes instar III/IV. The test was carried out with seven groups of experiment including five concentrations of soursop seed extract (200, 400, 600, 800, 1000 ppm), positive control group of experiment, and negative control group of experiment. Based on the research that has been done, it is found that the most effective concentration to kill 100% of Aedes spp. larvae is 1000 ppm. The average mortality rate of larvae that are given with Abate® is 96, 25%. LC50 of soursop seed extract is 354, 231 ppm and LC90 is 554, 881 ppm. Based on Mann whitney statistical test, the result concluded that there is no signifficant differences between the most effective concentration of soursop seed exctract (1000 ppm) with temephos..
