Abstract
Cakupan imunisasi perlu ditingkatkan demi upaya mencegah penyakit difteri. Based on the report of Sumatera Barat Health Department , there were 34 cases of diphtheria in 2017. Factors that affect diphtheria are immunization and environment including climate factor. This research was to determine the relation between immunization coverage and climate with diphtheria in Sumatera Barat year 2016 – 2017. Methods This study is quantitative research with ecology time trend design. The populationand sample are all diphtheria cases were reported by mounth in Dinas Kesehatan Provinsi Sumatera Barat year 2016 until 2017. Data was analyzed using Spearman Rank Correlation Test. Results Sum of diphtheria in Sumatera Barat during 2016 until 2017 are 43 cases and immunization coverage of DPT is 84,1%. The results also showed the climate average per month during 2016 – 2017, there are 305.5 mm rainfall, 85.2% air humadity, 23.5oC temperature, and 3,96 hours sunshine duration. There was no significant association between immunization coverage of DPT1 (p=0.925), DPT2 (p=0.149), DPT3 (p=0.392), rainfall (p=0.664), temperature (p=0.771), and sunshine duration (p=0,151) with diphtheria. Climate factors air humadity that has significant association with diphtheria (p=0.015). Conclusion Air humadity was associated with diphtheria and there was not significant association betweem immunization coverage and another factors of climate with diphtheria. The health department needs to increases effort to find diphtheria case and increasing the health promotion also immuniztion coverage needs to be increased for prevention.
