Abstract
Blunt violence is the fifth leading cause of death worldwide. Blunt violence leads to wound formation. The degree of injury written in the medical record or Visum et Repertum (VeR) relates to the type of trauma, the severity of the injury, and minor weight of the maximum penalty threat that may be given to the offender in court. This study aims to determine description of the degree of injury due to blunt violence at RSUP Dr. M. Djamil Padang on period 2016. This study is descriptive study. Subjects were taken from all medical records data of victims of blunt violence at RSUP Dr. M. Djamil Padang period 2016. The sample was taken by total sampling method with amount of data is 653 cases. Then data was analyzed by univariate. The results showed that 653 cases of injury due to blunt violence, 125 people suffered a degree 1 injury, 460 people suffered a degree 2 injury, and 68 people suffered a degree 3 injury. The victims of injury due to blunt violence degree 1, degree 2, and degree 3 were mostly aged 11-20 years. The victims of injury degree 1, degree 2, and degree 3 dominated by male. Most number of types of injury on the injured victims degree 1, degree 2, and degree 3 was superficial injuries which 115 injuries, 420 injurie, and 62 injuries. The location of most injuries at degree 1 and degree 2 was found on the face of 57,6% and 65,6%, the location of most injuries at degree 3 was found on the head and face of 69,1%. The conclusion of this study is the most degree of injury to victims of blunt violence is degree 2, the most age groups in the victims of injury degree 1, degree 2, and degree 3 is 11-20 years, the victims of injury dominated by male, the type of injury mostly superficial injuries, The location of most injuries at degree 1 and degree 2 was found on the face and location of most injuries at degree 3 was found on the head and face.
