Abstract
DPT vaccination is an effort to generate active immunity towards diphtheria, pertussis and tetanus in the same time. Higher DPT immunization coverage will increase vaccination rate. Vaccination is not risk-free that some people could manifest adverse events following immunization (AEFIs) ranging from mild to severe degree. This research aims to detect the AEFIs in children after getting DPT immunization in Seberang Padang primary healthcare in Padang City. This cross-sectional descriptive study was conducted on children having DPT immunization maximum one month ago. Sample was chosen by simple random sampling technique and data was collected by questionnaire and interview with 45 samples. Univariate data was processed. The study showed that 41 (91.1 %) children was having AEFIs while 4 (8.9 %) children was not. The most AEFIs found was fever in 34 (82.9 %) children, swelling in injection site in 31 (75.6 %) children and redness in 26 (63.4 %) children. The onset of AEFIs was in the first day post-immunization, but fever could also occurred in the two days post-immunization. The period of AEFIs was one day in minimum but depends on the AEFIs occurred such as swelling in injection site that could last for seven days. Keywords : AEFIs, DPT Immunization, Children
