Abstract
The study about ants (Hymenoptera: Formicidae) at Mt. Talang, Solok Regency, West Sumatra was conducted from December 2016 to November 2017 by using Quadra Protocol method at 3 altitudes (1500 m asl, 2000 m asl and 2500 m asl). A total of 27 ants species that belonging to 5 subfamilies, 9 tribe, 19 genera dan 408 individuals of ants. The highest number of species was found in Myrmicinae (14 species), followed by Formicinae (6 species), Dolichoderinae and Ponerinae (3 species respectively), meanwhile Dorylinae just one species. The highest number of species was found at 1500 m asl (19 species), followed by 2000 m asl (10 species) and the lowest at 2500 m asl (3 species). The ants diversity will be decreased if the altitude excelsior. Key word: Altitude, Hymenoptera, Quadra Protocol, Mt. Talang
