Abstract

Pengaruh Penambahan EDTA dalam Pembuatan Detergen Cair dari Buah Lerak (Sapindus rarak, de Candolle) Marina, Sahadi Didi Ismanto dan Aisman. ABSTRAK Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh penambahan EDTA terhadap karakteristik mutu detergen lerak cair yang dihasilkan dan untuk mengetahui persentase penambahan EDTA terbaik, Penelitian ini telah dilaksanakan di Laboratorium Teknologi Hasil Pertanian Universitas Andalas Padang dari bulan Mei sampai dengan Juli 2016. Penelitian ini menggunakan Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL) terdiri dari 5 perlakuan dan 3 kali ulangan. Data analisa secara statistika dengan menggunakan ANOVA dan dilanjutkan dengan uji Duncan’s New Multiple Range Test (DNMRT) pada taraf nyata 5%. Perlakuan pada penelitian ini adalah penambahan EDTA sebesar 0%, 0,8%, 1,6%, 2,4% dan 3,2%. Pengamatan produk detergen lerak cair yang dihasilkan adalah viskositas, nilai pH, bobot jenis, angka lempeng total (ALT), stabilitas detergen, uji iritasi, stabilitas busa, uji kesukaan konsumen (hedonik) dan uji kemampuan membersihkan terbaik. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa perbedaan persentase penambahan EDTA pada detergen lerak cair berpengaruh pada viskositas, stabilitas busa, dan stabilitas detergen tetapi tidak berpengaruh terhadap nilai pH dan bobot jenis. Pengaruh penambahan EDTA dalam pembuatan detergen cair dari buah lerak pada konsentrasi penambahan EDTA 2,4% (Perlakuan D) merupakan produk terbaik dengan nilai viskositas 750 cP, pH 6,5, bobot jenis 1,04 g/ml, dan ALT 4,1 x 104 serta memiliki dugaan umur simpan selama 54 hari dan tidak menimbulkan iritasi pada kulit dengan nilai stabilitas busa sebesar 85,1%. Pada pengujian kemampuan membersihkan, detergen terbaik hasil penelitian efektif dalam membersihkan noda yang menempel pada pakaian. Hasil rata-rata uji organoleptik diperoleh skor warna 66,6% pada penambahan EDTA 0,8%, aroma 57,7% pada penambahan EDTA 1,6%, banyak busa 93,2% pada penambahan EDTA 1,6% dan kekentalan 76,6% pada penambahan EDTA 0,8%. Semua uji terhadap pengaruh penambahan EDTA dalam pembuatan detergen cair dari buah lerak memenuhi standar SNI 06-4085-1996 tentang Standar Mutu Sabun Cair. Kata kunci - Lerak, EDTA, Detergen Cair The Effect of Addition EDTA on Making Liquid Detergent from Lerak Fruit (Sapindus rarak, de Candolle) Marina, Sahadi Didi Ismanto and Aisman ABSTRACT This research aims to determine the effect of EDTA on the quality characteristics of lerak liquid detergent produced and to know the best percentage of addition of EDTA, this research was conducted at the Laboratory of Agricultural Technology Andalas University Padang from May to July 2016. This research used Completely Randomized Design (CRD) consists of 5 treatments and 3 repetitions. Data analyzed statistically by using ANOVA and continued by New Duncan’s Multiple Range Test (DNMRT) at the 5% significance level. The treatment in this research was the addition of EDTA at 0%, 0.8%, 1.6%, 2.4% and 3.2%. The observations of lerak liquid detergent produced were viscosity, pH value, specific gravity, total plate count (TPC), detergent stability, irritation test, the foam stability, test consumer preferences (hedonic) and the best cleaning ability test. The results showed that the difference percentage of addition of EDTA on lerak liquid detergent effected to the viscosity, foam stability, TPC and detergent stability but does not effected to the pH value and specific gravity. The effect of the addition of EDTA in the manufacture of fruit lerak liquid detergent at a concentration of 2.4% addition of EDTA was the best product with a viscosity of 750 cP, pH 6.5, the specific gravity of 1.04 g/ml, and TPC 4.1 x 104 and has alleged shelf life of 54 days and does not caused irritation to the skin with a foam stability value of 85.1%. In cleaning test ability, the best detergent product effective in cleaning stains that stick to clothing. The average yield obtained organoleptic color score was 66.6% on the addition of EDTA 0.8%, aroma was 57.7% on the addition of EDTA 1.6%, 93.2% more foam on the addition of EDTA 1.6% and viscosity was 76,6% by the addition of 0.8% EDTA. All tests on the effect of adding EDTA in the manufacture of liquid detergent from fruit lerak SNI 06-4085-1996 accepted with standards of the Quality Standard Soap Liquid.
