Abstract

THE INFLUENCE OF FLOOD IRRIGATION TIME ON A COMBINED SRI-JARWO METHOD OF RICE (Oryza sativa L.) PRODUCTION ABSTRACT by : Fatardho Zudri (1420242001) (Adviser by : Dr. Ir. Nalwida Rozen, MP dan Prof. Dr. Ir. Warnita, MP) This research, a field experiment, was conducted from August til November 2016 in the Ranah Batahan Sub-District, West Pasaman Regency. The objective of the study was to detemine the interaction between the SRI-Jarwo method and the timing of flood irrigation with respect to the growth and yield of rice crops, to determine the appropriate time to begin flooding and, to determine yields obtained with the SRI-Jarwo method. A split plot random group design was used. The main plots were flooded 35, 40, 45 and 50 days after transplanting. The subplots used different combinations of the SRI-Jarwo methods namely system 2:1, 4:1 (1) and 4:1 (2). No interaction between the time till flooding and the combinated SRI-Jarwo method was observed. The different time till flooding treatments gave relatively similar growth and yields, but based on net assimilation rate and plant growth rate the best time to begin flood irrigation is 45 days after transplanting. The SRI-Jarwo method can increase crop yield per hectare compared to the best yield previously recorded for the study area. The use of the 2:1 system yielded 6.95 ton / ha, System 4:1 (1) yielded 5.36 ton / ha and System 4:1 (2) yielded 6.48 ton / ha. Keywords: Rice, Flooding, SRI Method, Jajar Legowo Planting System
