Abstract

The cultivation of honey bees has been socialized since 1990 at the community level by the Government of West Sumatra Province. One of the areas that becomes the center of bee is named Korong Patalangan, District V Koto Timur Padang Pariaman. The process of extortion committed by farmers still uses the traditional way like using hand, body bent over position and sometimes squat. Therefore, this research was conducted with the goal of doing the evaluation of the current operator work position and designing tool extortion to shorten processing time. The evaluation is carried out using the method of Posture Evaluation Index (PEI) and Ten Physical Analysis. PEI value got after evaluation of Rapid Upper Limb Assessment (RULA), Lower Back Analysis (LBA), and Ovako Working Posture Analysis (OWAS) then will design ergonomics honey extortion tool based on the anthropometry integration data. Based on design and manufacture of products that have been already made, there is significant improvement of movements performed during extorting honey, improvements reduce the moment up to 9.7%. LBA value were issued initially ranged 950N-2200N which LBA recommended value should be around 750 N- 1000N, after repair LBA value is about 300 N-940 N. RULA value is obtained also decline ranges from 6 or 7 to 3 or 4 which means you no longer need improvement. Value of OWAS before repair ranged from 3 or 4 which means working posture improvement is needed while the after repair value obtained OWAS changed to 1 or 2, which means that further improvement is not needed anymore. After calculation RULA, OWAS, LBA then PEI values can be calculated. PEI value is obtained after repairs were reduced by 65.13%. Before changed, need 75 minutes to extort 5 kg beehive, but after improvement by use extortion tool can reduce processing time until 15 minutes to process 5 kg beehive.
