Abstract

Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF) is still a public health problem in Indonesia. Temephos has been in use since 1976 and in Indonesia has been used en masse since 1980 for Aedes aegypti larvae control program. Continuous use of insecticides for a long time can lead to insect resistance. Areas with high number of cases mostly have large populations with high population density and thus have a high risk of DHF. The data that has to be monitored continuously is the distribution of density of dengue vectors that can be measured through entomology index which is House Index (HI), Container Index (CI) and Breteau Index (BI). The aims of the research is to determine the susceptibility status of Ae. aegypti larvae (Diptera: Culicidae) to temephos and the value of HI, CI and BI to see the risk of DHF in Kubu Dalam Parak Karakah, East Padang Subdistrict, West Sumatera. This method of research is survey and experiment. Susceptibility Test is performed based on Bioassay method according to WHO standard against Ae. aegypti larvae using temephos insecticide. The results obtained from this research are Ae. aegypti larvae is still susceptible to temephos with WHO diagnostic concentration (0.012 mg/L) with a 100% mortality percentage while the concentrations of 0.0075 mg/L and 0.005 mg/L are resistance with 52% and 5% mortality percentage. The value of entomology index of Aedes spp larvae are HI of 34%, CI of 13.37% and BI of 46% to obtain the value of DF (Density Figure) of 5, which mean Kubu Dalam Parak Karakah have a medium risk in the transmission of DHF.
