Abstract

Infertility is a problem in reproductive system that can affect men and women with the number of 48.5 million couples in the world. Infertility in men mostly caused by abnormalities on the pre testicular, testicular and post testicular levels. One of the risk factors of infertility is smoking, toxic substances that were contained in cigarettes can cause Reactive Oxygen Species (ROS) increase which can lead to tissue oxidative stress that interfere the quality of spermatozoa. This study aims to see the comparison of spermatozoa quality in men of infertile couples with and without smoking history. This cross sectional study used medical records data of semen analysis at Obstetric and Gynecologic Specialist clinic and Citra BMC general hospital which were held on December 2016 until April 2017, it took 64 patients which fit with inclusion criteria. The comparison of spermatozoa quality on semen were analyzed using Chi square and Mann Whitney test with p<0,05. The result of this study shows that p value of the spermatozoa quality (morphology, motility, concentration) is p>0,05. The conclusion of this study shows that there were no significant differences of male spermatozoa quality from infertile couples with and without smoking history. Infertilitas pada pria sering disebabkan oleh kelainan pada tingkat pre testikular, testikular, dan post testikular. Salah satu faktor resiko infertilitas adalah merokok, zat toksin yang terdapat pada rokok dapat menyebabkan peningkatan Reactive Oxygen Species (ROS) yang nantinya bisa menyebabkan stress oksidatif jaringan sehingga mengganggu kualitas spermatozoa. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk melihat perbandingan kualitas spermatozoa pada pria dari pasangan infertil dengan riwayat merokok dan tidak merokok. Penelitian cross sectional ini menggunakan data rekam medis analisa semen di Klinik Spesialis Obstetri dan Ginekologi dan RSU Citra BMC Padang yang dilakukan pada bulan Desember 2016 sampai April 2017. Didapatkan 64 sampel yang memenuhi kriteria inklusi. Perbandingan kualitas spermatozoa pria ini dianalisa dengan Chi-square dan Mann Whitney dengan (p<0,05). Hasil penelitian didapatkan p value dari kualitas spermatozoa (morfologi, motilitas, konsentrasi) tidak bermakna (p >0,05). Kesimpulan penelitian ini adalah tidak terdapat perbandingan bermakna kualitas spermatozoa pria dari pasangan infertil dengan riwayat merokok dan tidak merokok.
