Abstract

Tuberculosis (TB) is an infectious disease caused by Mycobacterium tuberculosis that generally affects the lungs. Tuberculosis is often undiagnosed in children since birth until the age of 15 due to lack of healthcare or no preparations to recognize signs and symptoms at that age. This became the establishment of diagnosis guide with a scoring system created by TB working group, cooperation between IDAI and Indonesian Ministry of Health supported by WHO. Thus, this research conducted to determine about clinical spectrum of tuberculosis scores diagnosis in children according to the age of the patient in pediatric outpatient clinic at RSUP DR M Djamil Padang in 2016. This was a descriptive observational method using retrospective cross-sectional approach. This research was conducted in Medical Record Department of RSUP Dr M Djamil Padang in April 2017. There were 53 TB patients that has been recorded in pediatric outpatient clinic of RSUP Dr M Djamil Padang. The results of this study showed that most children that suffered from TB are around the age of 0-<5 years old (37.7%). Viewing from the age group, the most prevalent scoring indicator found at age 0-<5 was the result of TB suggestive from thorax X-ray (35.8%), history of fever ≥2 weeks (30.2%), mild-moderate malnutrition (30.2%), lymph nodes enlargement (28.3%) and positive tuberculin skin test (24.5%). In the 5-<10 age group, the most prevalent scoring was history of chronic cough ≥3 weeks (22.6%) and contact history of TB BTA+ (17%). Severe malnutrition (9.4%) and contact history of TB based on family reports (9.4%) are often found in the 10-14 age group. This study conclude that there are differences found in scoring indicator of TB children’s patients based of the patients’ age at RSUP Dr M Djamil Padang in 2016.
