Abstract

Nowadays, synthesis of gold nanoparticles is most concern due to wide application in multidisciplinary in nanoscience and nanotechnology. A green synthesis of gold nanoparticles have been done by using gambir leaf extract, which have contains catechin. Based on previous research, catechin is potential to reduce gold ions into gold nanoparticles. This research reported the hydrothermal method in order to obtain gold nanoparticles with high cristallinity. By varying the times 2, 8, 12 and 24 hours at 180 oC and also by adding capping agent trietanolamine (TEA) and the absent of capping. The UV-Vis spectra show the Surface Plasma Resonance (SPR) at λmax 536 – 547 nm. XRD pattern informed that gold nanoparticles have Face center cubic (FCC) phase with mean crystal size 27 nm and sharp peak wich indicated have high cristalinity. Characterisation of FT-IR shows the spectra of hydroxil and carbonyl group in gold nanoparticle. Characterisation of TEM found the particle with various shape and size (10 – 77 nm). Based on XRD characterization, the obtained gold nanoparticle which has syntesized in 2 hours, at 180 oC, added by capping agent TEA have the highest cristalinity among of others gold nanoparticle which synthesized in other condition. Antibactericidial activity of gold nanoparticles is more sensitive against E. coli than S. aureus.
