Abstract
This research about adsorption germanium atoms on SWCNT (8.0) wall using Semiempirical AM1 method from Hyperchem package has been done. Ge atoms were dropped on three position : on top, bridge, and hollow. Ge atoms were adsorbed chemically and physically on SWCNT wall and most of Ge atoms were desorption. Imposition of 1 - 8 Ge atoms in the walls of SWCNT (8.0) imposing position on top ΔE value ranging from 1,687036 – 4,214164 eV . The value of ΔE SWCNT (8.0) bridge and hollow are 0,373056 – 4,209844 eV and 2,374053 – 3,905996 eV respectively. In general, the imposition 1 - 8 Ge atom increases the value of ΔE SWCNT, but at a certain position lowered ΔE SWCNT. Imposition 1 Ge atoms in the bridge position the potential to make SWCNT (8.0) as a conductor. The calculation of bonding energy (BE) and adsorption energy (Eads) showed that the dropped of Ge atoms can increase of BE and Eads. Keyword: Single Walled Carbon Nanotube (SWCNT), Ge atoms, AM1
