Abstract

Study about screening of endophytes bacteria which potential produce antibiotic from Turmeric (Curcuma domestica Val.) had been conducted from November 2016 to Januari 2017 at Microbiology Laboratory, Faculty of Agricultural Technology and Microbiology Laboratory, Biology Departement, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Science, Andalas University. The study used survey method and the data were analysed descriptively. The selection of the bacteria which produce antibiotic had been with paper disk method and used Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus as the tester bacteria. Result showed that endophytes bacteria of Turmeric leaves acquired 8 isolated bacteria, which characteristic 7 isolate bacteria have antibacterial against E.coli, 5 isolate active against S. aureus and 4 isolate active against E. coli and S. aureusbacteria. Characterization of macroscopic, microscopic and biochemical test on 8 isolate of antibiotic produced bacteria are grouped into eight genus, those Bacillus sp.1, Bacillus sp.2, Bacillus sp.3, Bacillus sp.4, Bacillus sp.5, Bacillus sp.6, Bacillus sp.7 and Bacillus sp.8.
