Abstract

Activated carbon from palm kernel shell can be used as supercapacitor electrodes. In this research studied the effect of delipidation treatment by using soxhletation methode to activated carbon and the effect of KOH as activator. The effect of delipidation and activation makes the preparation process of carbon from palm kernel shell becomes easily than without delipidation and activation treatment. The effect of delipidation on the performance of carbon from palm kernel shell as supercapacitor electrodes seen from the increase in specific surface area 7 times larger that is from 1,829 m2/g to 13,136 m2/g and a capacitance value increased 236,82 times that is 46,89 µF and conductivity as 9,016 x 10-5 Ω-1cm-1. Keywords : Aktivation, Capacitance, Carbon palm kernel shell, Delipidation, Supercapacitor.
