Abstract

Abstract The research about “Root Induction and Growth of Shoot Cutting of Red Jabon (Anthocephalus macrophyllus (Roxb.) Havil.) in Various Planting Medium” has been done from October until November 2016 in the Greenhouse and Plant Physiology Department of Biology, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Andalas University. The aim of this research was to obtain effective planting medium for root induction and growth shoot cutting Red Jabon (Anthocephalus macrophyllus (Roxb.) Havil.). This research used Complete Randomized Design (CRD) with three replications and nine treatments (garden soil, garden soil and manure, garden soil and compost, sand river, sand river and manure, sand river and compost, sawdust, sawdust and manure, sawdust and compost.).The results showed that the sawdust and sand river were the best planting medium for root inducing and growth shoot cutting Red Jabon (Anthocepalus macrophyllus (Roxb.) Havil.) with life percentage was 100 %, average of dry weight of the plant top was 0,32 g dan 0,41 g, average number of root was 5,67 and 14,00 and average of dry weight of root was 0,01 g dan 0,023 g.
