Abstract

Clouded leopard (Neofelis nebulosa) is one of the wild animal that IUCN listed as vulnerable or at risk of extinction, while the indonesian Government through government regulations No.7 year 1999, set this animal as protected species. Its population declines annually thus the goverment set conservation scheme for it. One effort to conserve it these animals is to protect it from diseases caused by parasites. The aims of this study are to determine the types of endoparasites in the clouded leopard (Neofelis nebulosa) and determine the prevalence of each type of parasite. The study had been conducted from September to December 2016 at the Kinantan Zoo, Bukittinggi, West Sumatra and in Animal Taxonomy Laboratory of the Biology Department, Faculty of Mathematic and Natural Sciences, Andalas University. Faecal samples (Endoparasit) were collected from the four tail clouded leopards (2 pairs) and examination of stool samples was done by centrifugation-flotation method. The result showed that three species of endoparasites were found, which are Diphyllobothrium sp., Taenia taeniaformis and Toxocara sp. Prevalence value of the parasites were as follow; Diphyllobothrium sp (75%), Taenia taeniaformis (50%) and Toxocara sp. (25%). Key Words: IUCN, Neofelis nebulosa, Endoparasite, Prevalence
