Pembimbing I Drs.Edi Indrizal, M. Si. Pembimbing II Dra. Ermayanti, M. Si Women have a personal image, in many cultures considered that a woman can only do homework. But since the development of the times, women are also have a lot of work for a living to increase the household income. Women work outside the home and interact with many people, this is where a lot of imbalances that cause women with criminal offenses. In this study, the problem is how the inmates lived experience so that it can enter into Penitentiary, whether that be a factor in women crime and how the inmate social interaction with family and community. The purpose of this study was to determine the life experience of the inmates who caused them to go into Penitentiary, knowing the causes of female crime and know how to interact with the inmates families and communities while in Prison. The method used in this research is using life history interviews with data collection, observation and study documentation, while for the election of informant used purposive technique where grab samples are intentional and complies with all requirements of sample is required. Based on the research that has been done that female prisoners have a background different life that caused them to go into Penitentiary. Forms of criminal acts that they do too diverse, many of the factors that encourage them to commit crimes ranging from immediate needs, economic factors, environmental factors and also lack of understanding on matters relating to the law. Inmates can interact with families and communities with the provisions provided by the Penitentiary. At the time of interaction, a lot of female prisoners get support from visitors as well as getting a lot of lessons from fellow inmates and also from employees Penitentiary. During their stay in Penitentiary female inmates also receive guidance that has been prepared by the Penitentiary. Keyword : Women Prisoners, Criminality, Penitentiary
