Abstract

The purpose of the research is to evaluate the medicine inventory management at the technical implementation unit office (UPT) of pharmacy warehouse of health organizational unit in Pariaman City for the year 2015. The research conducts mixed methods sequential exploratory and in depth interview, documents anaysis is also used to find out medicine inventory management’s ((input (workforce, costs, facilities and governmental policy), process (planning, procurement, storage, distribution, recording and reporting, elimination and supervision)), and the classification of medicine inventory based on the investment value measured by using Pareto Analysis or ABC Analysis. Meanwhile, the medicine inventory procurement is measured by using Economic Order Qantity (EOQ). The research result showed that there were not enough workforce to handle medicine inventory management as well as the facilities provided. The process of medicine planning only used consumption method, in which all medicine types were in group A of ABC Analysis or Pareto Analysis. Economic Order Quantity (EOQ) was not applied in the process of procurement and some problems still occured in the process of reporting of medicine inventory. The research suggests to add the workforce in handling the medicine inventory management, budget synchronization with the ministry of health, the additional of facilities, revising and making the planning by using morbidity method, applying the Economic Order Quantity (EOQ), handling care of storage and distribution process, increasing supervision as well as the evaluation of medicine inventory management.
