Abstract

Technology plays a vital role in our lives, and the rapid development of information technology in the era of Industrial Revolution 4.0 has revolutionized various sectors, including online marketplaces. As the majority of internet users in Indonesia engage in online buying and selling, ensuring an optimal user experience on e-commerce platforms like Bukalapak is essential. This study addresses the challenge of improving the User Interface (UI) of the Bukalapak application by analyzing user reviews through sentiment analysis. The objective is to identify usability and UI design issues and implement effective solutions. Adressing these challenges, the study utilizes sentiment analysis, categorizing user opinions into positive, negative, neutral, and mixed sentiments. A dataset of 246,947 user reviews from the Google Play Store is collected and analyzed, with a specific focus on 4,462 reviews related to the application's UI. This approach provides valuable insights into user sentiment and identifies specific pain points and areas for improvement. Additionally, the study employs the User-Centered Design (UCD) method to redesign the interface, incorporating user feedback and preferences. The evaluation will use an SUS questionnaire to calculate the usability score. The results of the study demonstrate the significance of leveraging sentiment analysis and user feedback to enhance UI and improve user satisfaction. Analysis of the collected reviews reveals that 31% express negative sentiments, highlighting existing usability and UI design issues. Through the implementation of design improvements based on user reviews, the study achieves a substantial 23.25% increase in the usability score, elevating it from 57.64 to 71.04. These findings emphasize the positive impact of incorporating user feedback into the UI redesign process. The study concludes by highlighting the potential for companies to utilize user reviews and sentiment analysis as valuable tools to better understand user needs, preferences, and drive suitable service improvements, ultimately leading to higher user satisfaction.
