Abstract

Mengalami kedisabilitasan dapat memberikan dampak psikologis dan sosial bagi remaja tunanetra. Namun, ada sebagian remaja tunanetra yang mampu mengatasi keterbatasan tersebut dengan baik. Sejauh ini, belum ada penelitian yang mengkaji gambaran optimis pada remaja tunanetra. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui gambaran dan faktor-faktor yang mempengaruhi optimisme pada remaja tunanetra. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif fenomenologi. Informan dalam penelitian ini tiga orang remaja tunanetra. Teknik pengambilan sampel menggunakan purposive sampling. Teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan metode wawancara dan observasi Hasil penelitian ini diperoleh gambaran bahwa pada awalnya remaja tunanetra mengalami beberapa tekanan dalam menghadapi keterbatasan. Namun, remaja tunanetra memiliki kesadaran dalam diri untuk bangkit dan yakin akan kemampuan lain yang masih bisa mereka gunakan. Terkait hal tersebut, ada beberapa hal yang mempengaruhi optimisme pada remaja tunanetra di antaranya adalah pemaknaan terhadap tekanan yang dialami dengan menyadari kekurangan dan kelebihan diri, belajar dari pengalaman baik dan buruk, memiliki keyakinan penuh terhadap diri sendiri mendapatkan dukungan dari orangtua dan teman. Mereka juga terbantu oleh perkembangan teknologi yang memudahkan tunanetra mengakses berbagai ilmu pengetahuan. Selain itu, faktor spiritual juga dapat mempengaruhi optimisme pada remaja tunanetra. However, there are some blind teenagers who are able to overcome these limitations well. These days, there are no studies that examine the description of optimism in adolescents with visual impairment. The focus of this research is the description of adolescents with visual impairment optimism and the factor that affect their optimism. This research used a qualitative approach of phenomenology. The study involved three informant, they all were adolescents with visual impairment. The procedure of the selected respondent in this research, it used purposive sampling. In the process of data collection, this research used the interview, and observation. The result showed that, at the first time, visually impaired adolescents experience some pressure to face their limitations. However, they have self awareness to rise up and believe with their capabilities. Related to this, there are several things that affect the optimism of visual impaired adolescents. For instance, the meaning of the pressures experienced by realizing the advantages and disadvantages, to learn from good and bad experiences, have full confidence to themselves, and the support of such affection, attention and help from parents and friends were some factor that affect their optimism. Moreover, visual impaired teenagers also feel helped by the development of technology that allows the visually impaired to access a variety of knowledge. In addition, the spiritual factors can also affect the optimism of adolescents with visual impairment. Keyword : optimism, disability
