Abstract

This study aims to determine the factors that determine school dropouts in Papua. This research also aims to see whether there are still children who do not continue their schooling until now because the current situation is still many children who do not want to continue their schooling due to several factors. The data that will be used in this study is primary data sourced from the results of the National Socio-Economic Survey (SUSENAS) in 2019 by the Central Bureau of Statistics of Papua and using logit regression as a model from this research. The logit regression shows that the independent variables are significant in the dependent variable, namely the number of family members, parent's income, gender, area of residence, and parent's marital status. At the same time, the independent variables, namely head of household education, are not significant to the dependent variable, namely school dropouts. In addition, it is hoped that future researchers can examine more deeply the level of awareness of children and parents towards education and further analyze the things that result from the problem of school dropouts, and provide real solutions for the community and local government for the advancement of children's education in Papua.
