Abstract

In 2010, infectious skin diseases is the 10th most common diseases in West Sumatra with 106.568 incident cases. In the dormitory of SMAN 1 Padang Panjang, from initial survey was conducted on May 3, 2016 obtained 7 from 10 people interviewed complained of itching in a predilection for scabies and itching which gets worse at night. Scabies is a parasitic infection of the skin caused by Sarcoptes scabei var hominis. The level of knowledge, residential density and a behavior thought to contribute to scabies. This study aimed to determine the relationship of the level of knowledge, residential density and behavior with the incidence of scabies in the dormitory of SMAN 1 Padang Panjang. Design is an analytic cross sectional with 129 samples. The statistical analysis using Chi-Square. The results shows that the prevalence of scabies in the dormitory of SMAN 1 Padang Panjang s 50 people (38.76%) from 129 people. Based on the results of statistical tests shows that there is correlation between incidence of scabies and level of of knowledge (p=0.018), there is correlation between incidence of scabies and the residential density (p=0.003), and there is correlation between incidence of scabies and the behavior (p=0.006).
