Abstract

This study analyzes the impact of humans’ behavior toward nature, as seen from the human activities that impacted on nature’s sustainability. This study uses ecocritical approach from Cheryll Glotfelty, and applies the concepts of deep ecology from Greg Garrard as the guidance to analyze Lord of The Flies by William Golding. This is a qualitative research and use descriptive method to present the result of analysis. The result of this analysis finds that humans’ behaviors to nature cause bad impacts to not only human, but also another living beings. Humans’ behaviors that cause bad impacts to the nature from this novel are wildfires, air pollution, and overhunting. Wildfires release the carbon gases to the air resulting the air pollution, which is dangerous for every living beings. Thus, overhunting can causes extinction and bother the animals’ ecosystems. Therefore, we need to gain awareness to preserve nature and maintain the relationship between human and non-human.
