Abstract

The objectives of research were to determine the best growing media and the right concentration of BAP (Benzyl Amino Purin) for the growth of manggosteen seedlings (Garcinia mangostana L). This research was conducted in experimental farm of Agricultural Faculty, Andalas University, Padang, using Complete Randomomized Design in Factorial with 2 factors and was repeated 3 times. The first factor was growing media: soil+manure, soil+manure+sand, soil+manure+husk. The second one was concentration of the BAP: 50, 100, 150, and 200 ppm. The data were analized by variance and continued by Duncan’s New Multiple Range (DNMRT) with 5% confident level. The result showed that there was no significant difference on the interaction between growing media and concentration of BAP on growth of manggosteen seedlings. The best growing media for for manggosteen seedlings was the mixture of soil+manure+sand and and the best concentration of BAP was 50 ppm. Keywords :Mangosteen seeds, growing media, BAP (Benzyl Amino Purin) Abstrak Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendapatkan pengaruh media tanam yang paling baik dan konsentrasi BAP (Benzyl Amino Purin) yang tepat terhadap pertumbuhan bibit manggis (Garcinia mangostana L). Penelitian dilakukan di Kebun Percobaan Fakultas Pertanian Universitas Andalas, Padang pada bulan Desember 2015 sampai April 2016. Penelitian ini menggunakan Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL) pola faktorial dengan 2 faktor dan diulang 3 kali. Faktor pertama adalah tanah: pupuk kandang, tanah:pupuk kandang:pasir, tanah:pupuk kandang: sekam. Faktor kedua adalah konsentrasi BAP 50, 100 , 150, dan 200 ppm. Data hasil pengamatan dianalisis dengan sidik ragam dan jika F-hitung berbeda nyata dilanjutkan dengan Duncan’s New Multiple Range (DNMRT) pada taraf nyata 5 %. Hasil penelitian menunjukan beberapa konsentrasi BAP diikuti dengan media tanam tidak memberikan pengaruh terhadap pertumbuhan bibit manggis. Media tanam yang baik untuk pertumbuhan bibit manggis yaitu media tanah dan pupuk kandang yang diperkaya dengan pasir dan BAP terhadap pertumbuhan bibit manggis yaitu BAP dengan konsentrasi 50 ppm.
