Abstract

Objectives – The objective of this research is to identify top management team personality through locus of control analysis and find out the effect toward implication of transformation strategic by top management team in West Sumatera highest education institution through implimentation of seven transformation strategic. Design/methodology/approach – The approach applied in this research is quantitative and description analysis of 30 top management teams of highest education institution in West Sumatera. Research Limitation – The research with qualitative approach required, to give deep and comprehensive understanding in identifiy the characteristic of top management team personality and the implication toward transformational strategy implication of highest education institutions in West Sumatera. Finding – The result of this research shows that top management team in West Sumatera apt to have internal locus of control orientation and they have applying seven transformation strategy. The locus of control characteristic take part in implementation of transformation strategy in their institution. Implication - The result of this research can be use as a manual guide in training and development of top management team. The result also help the leader to hold self evaluating, and they have more realistic image when find out their skill toward personality characteristic and transformational ability. Authenticity - the result of this research provide more advanced information of strategic leadership area with college institution top management team as a focus of study, where the existence of this kind of study still rare and limited.
