Abstract
The biosorption of Cd(II) and Cr(VI) ions in aqueous solutions using Langkitang (Faunus ater) shell activated with HNO3 0,01 M was studied in bacth method. Optimum condition ofCd(II)at pH 6, concentration 100 mg/L, contact time 120 minutes, mass 0,1 g, particel size 32 μm, biosorbent was warmed on 80oC with sorption capacity is 5,628 mg/g and % removal is 56,29%. While optimum condition of Cr(VI) ions at pH 3, concentration 100 mg/L, contact time 15 minutes, biosorbent was warmedon 40oC with sorption capacityis 3,04 mg/g and % removal is 30,04%.Adsorption of Cd(II) and Cr(VI) ions following Langmuir Isotherm models with R2 0,999 for Cd(II) ions and 0,987 for Cr(VI) ions. Langmuir isothermmethod indicated adsorption process is monolayer. FTIR analysis showed the hydroxyl with wave number 2919,60 cm-1shift to 2922,83 cm-1, carboxyl with wave number 1715 cm-1which after adsorption it was absorbed for Cd(II) ion and aminewith wave number 1020,35 cm-1shift to1083,44 cm-1for Cr(VI) ion are an important role in the adsorption process. SEM-EDX analysis showed the surface morphology has too much pores in langkitang (Faunus ater) shell with composition C 6,81%, O 30,08%, Ca 33,59%, Cr 28,98%, Cd 0,54%. XRD analysis indicated the aragonite as crystal lattice structure in langkitang (Faunus ater) shell. Keyword: Biosorption, Cd(II) and Cr(VI) ions, Langkitang (Faunus ater) shell
