Abstract
An experiment to study " The Application of Different Type of Fertilizer on The Growth and Yield of Bengkuang (Pachyrrizus erosus L.Urban) has been carried out at Koto Panjang Ikua Koto , subdistrict of Koto Tangah Padang, from January to May 2015. The objective of this study was to obtain the best type of fertilizer to growth and yield of Bengkuang. This research was conducted using a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with 4 treatments and 3 replicates. Data were statistically analyzed with the F test and it was followed by a further test using Duncan’s New Multiple Range Test (DNMRT) at the 5% level. The treatments were a half of NPK recommended dose, cow dung at 20 t/ha, tithonia compost at 20 t/ha and paddy straw compost at 20 t/ha. Results showed that the application of cow dung as fertilizer at the rate of 20 t/ha resulted in a relatively similar effect with other types of fertilizer on growth and yield of bengkuang, however, the application of cow dung showed the best effect on fresh tuber weight. Key words: yam bean, fertilizer, growth, yield
