Abstract

Research on the analysis of compost made from oil palm bunches with cocomas activator of activated sludge has been carried out. Composting is done by varying the weight of bunches of oil palm and activators cocomas activated sludge. From the resulting compost tested water content, phosphorus, potassium and organic carbon. Content of potassium in the compost was analyzed by atomic absorption spectrophotometry method (AAS) and the content of phosphorus and organic carbon was analyzed by spectrophotometric method in which the results obtained were compared with SNI 19-7030-2004. The analysis showed that the use of activated sludge activators cocomas takes time for 14 weeks for the composting process. The results of the closest standard SNI 19-7030-2004 where for the water content contained in the compost with a comparison between an activator of activated sludge and palm bunches cocomas 1: 4 which is 49.02%, the content of phosphorus contained in the compost with a ratio of 1: 4 of 0.11%, and for organic carbon in the compost in the ratio 1: 3, namely 25.59%. While the extremely high potassium content in each variation compositions compost. The lowest potassium content contained in the compost in the ratio 1: 5 is 0.57%, but still exceeded the standard SNI 19-7030-2004. It can be concluded that activated sludge can serve as activators for cocomas composting of oil palm bunches which produce compost in accordance with the standard SNI 19-7030-2004 and potassium-rich elements.
